Now the thought has come to mind-as well has been suggested to me- to post the happenings of someone
\nstealing items out of my kit again & using them in her kit…
\nagain. And yes, it is the same person as before.<\/p>\n

But you know what?
\nI’m not going to do it this time….
\nBut I AM going to post my feelings on
\nall sorts of thieves & pirates & my own
\nexperiences with them.<\/p>\n

First of all, for a time I was an Official promoter
\nfor the band, HIM. Even now I still promote them,
\njust not with the word ‘Official’.<\/p>\n

Over 8 yrs. of promoting this band,
\nI have come across Pirates- people who like
\nto illegally share things they’re not supposed to-
\nin the case of HIM- it was music Pirates.<\/p>\n

There is literally NOTHING nice I can say about them
\nno matter what it is they are sharing- be it art,
\nmusic, designer’s kits, etc.
\nTo me, they are stealing from that artist’s,
\nmusician’s, band’s or designer’s pockets.
\nAnd they have no care about the consequences-
\nexcept for when it affects them.
\nThey start to bitch when that band no longer
\nwants to tour where they live, or that artist who
\ndoesn’t want to show or sell his work, etc…
\nCan you blame them?<\/p>\n

Now I have always been one that if I see illegal
\ndownload links for HIM albums, I will report them.
\nI simply do not care. Ripping off a band, etc. is
\nripping them off- Bottom Line & it’s WRONG!<\/p>\n

Now, as far as thieves are concerned…
\nthose REALLY piss me off- these are the ones who
\nrip youtube videos of the band’s official videos, etc.
\nAnd again, it has its effects as above… and they don’t care.
\nAnd yes, I report those videos ALL the time.<\/p>\n

Over the years I have dealt with more thieves than
\npirates. I have had my one HIM site plagiarized
\nso much I just took it down after over 5 yrs
\nof it being online.<\/p>\n

HIM promo fliers I made have been ripped
\nwith my watermarks taken off & claimed
\nas someone else’s work… And they have been
\nripped into making a myspace layout!
\nCan you believe that shit?<\/p>\n

I have also had other graphics, tags,
\netc. made into HIDEOUS collages, etc.
\nby some weird fucking HIM fans.
\nAnd usually I DO track down the guilty party.
\nI DO find out who it is and
\nI am usually able to make them stop.<\/p>\n

BUT! To have some one not only once-
\nbut TWICE- steal from a kit I made & then LIE
\nabout it… that just really frosts my flakes!
\nNot because she stole from me- it’s not just about that.<\/p>\n

She has customers who have bought her kits,
\na Creative Team who trusts her to be HONEST!
\nAnd she isn’t. She simply can’t or won’t be.<\/p>\n

And where does that leave the customers & CTers?
\nIt leaves them looking bad.
\nAnd that is what really pisses me off.
\nThey have no idea what she’s doing is wrong.
\nThe have no idea that she’s a thief.
\nAnd what about the store owners who
\ntrust that person to be 100% honest?
\nHow does it make those stores look?
\nThey are putting their trust in her & she
\nbetrays it every day she lives with the lie of her
\ndishonest actions.<\/p>\n

And us other designers, who give a free kit here & there-
\nwe trust those that download it to abide
\nby our TOU in the kits. They’re not to be ripped,
\nhave items stolen & reused for profit
\nin any way, shape or form.
\nThis is also the same for our PTU kits
\n& we trust our customers to enjoy them
\nbut not use them in illegal ways.<\/p>\n

But to see that person LIE & WEASEL their way
\nout of the hot water they got themselves into-
\nwhich puts everyone in positions on who to believe, etc.
\nThat does NOT sit right with me. At all.
\nShe can call me every name she wants-
\nit doesn’t change the fact that what she
\nhas done\/ continues to do is WRONG.<\/p>\n

Is this fair- for thieves to do this?
\nI personally think it is the most selfish,
\nself-centered thing a person can do…
\nesp. when they continue to lie about it as well.
\nLook at who all it affects.
\nThat should tell you something.<\/p>\n

Her actions of ripping my kit again has
\nleft me debating if I will ever share another kit
\non my blog as a free kit.
\nI had one I was going to post next week.
\nI had another I was going to make for free.
\nBut in all honesty, I don’t know.
\nMaybe I will be that designer who simply
\nrefuses to design anymore.<\/p>\n

So, with that being said, just stop & think for a moment
\nabout that kit or mp3 you’re going to share…
\nOr that kit you want to use to make your own kit-
\nIs it fair what you are doing?
\nAre you being a Pirate or a Thief?
\nWhat effects will your actions have?<\/p>\n

Those are the few questions that need to be asked
\nbefore you do something you know you shouldn’t be doing.
\nEventually you WILL be caught- you WILL be reported.<\/p>\n
